Depart and return to Ballito, KZN
Visitors are encouraged upon arrival to overnight at the salt rock beach hotel prior to the day of departure. This grand old beach hotel has a great holiday vibe and relaxing atmosphere.
Day 1 (130km), We rendezvous in the morning at the Zulu-Safari HQ to off load unnecessary travel luggage and allocate the bikes. After the debriefing and setup we set off to Eshowe via the Glendale valley. Ride features rolling hills, rural landscapes, magnificent valleys and the Tugela river crossing. After our midday stop at the old fort, we visit a practicing Sangoma ( traditional medicine man ), which for a small fee will cure any ills. We overnight at the George Hotel which boast some remarkable memorabilia of the early pioneers to Zululand.
Day 2 (120km), Destination Mtonjaneni Lodge, The route continues through the Umhlatuze valley, surrounded by the breath-taking Mabelebele mountain range and lake Phobane.The local vegetation ranges from acacia trees and mountain flora to riverine forest and mixed woodlands, ensuring absolutely beautiful vistas and unforgettable photo opportunities. We visit the Nkandla forest reserve and cross the Mhlathuze river ( if not in flood). We end the day with a short visit to the battlefield museum at Mtonjaneni Zulu Historical Museum. Evening is spent around a roaring fire, traditional barbeque and local brew.
Day 3 (180km), Destination Hluhluwe, Isinkwe safari bush camp,
This day is a great riding day with long stretches of gravel roads from the district of Ulundi to the northern reach of Kwazulu Natal.
Our halfway stop and refueling is in the bustling town of Hlabisa. The trail offers remote views of the Hluhluwe–iMfolozi game reserve and open stretches of savannah grassland.
Day 4 (0km), A full day guided safari sets off early to the Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park. This non-riding day offers an opportunity to relax in the comfort of an open game drive vehicle. The oldest proclaimed reserve in Africa with 96000 Hectares of wilderness and magnificent wildlife.
Day 5 (208km), Destination the incredible Tembe elephant park, this reserve lies between Zululand and Mozambique, home to Africa’s largest elephants. The ride features mountain passes, unspoilt wilderness and elevated mountain views of Swaziland.
Enjoy some great African hospitality after an unforgettable ride.
Day 6 (60km), After a half day guided safari in Tembe elephant park, we depart for Kosi bay to Utshwayelo Lodge. This is the most northern and tropical region of Kwazulu Natal. We visit the estuary by Land Rover and enjoy sundowners on the beach alongside the warm indian ocean.
Day 7 (0km), Half day exploring Kosi bay mouth and surrounds with optional activities on offer from boating,fishing and snorkelling.
We depart after lunch by vehicle back to Ballito, tour ends between 17h00-18h00.
